Dashboard Vs Report Sharing

Hi ,

So far we have been sharing Dashboard to end users instead of an underlying report. So that even when the  end user do any edits or change filters that change is only for themselves. and won’t be saved back and visible for other users. Can we do same thing with report sharing as well. Also would like to know pros and cons of sharing both Dashboard and Reports with new changes happening in the power bi world so that we can determine if we need to share using a Dashboard or a Report.

Thanks..

That is always the case. Users cannot influence other users'  filters.

If you share a dashboard you are automatically sharing the underlying report.  Dashboards are not interactive (unless you have pinned entire pages) and when you click on a Dashboard tile you are being taken to the report page where the visual was located that you pinned to the dashboard as a tile.
