Dashboard TIle update question
I have a report with a single value card (numeric) which I've published and pinned to a dashboard. I've set up an alert on the tile to email when the value is non zero. In order to test the dashboard alert (non zero alert), I changed the filter on the card in desktop designer to force a return of a non-zero value. If I upload the report / data set again, I see a non zero value in the report but not in the dashboard. If I do a refresh tiles within the dashboard, still no change in values. If I pin the same card from my report into the dashboard, I see a 2nd dashboard tile with the correct non zero value.
Does changing a filter on a card and reuploading a report orphan the origina tile in the dashboard? What triggers the update of a dashboard tile?

On the alerts, they can be setup to send once an hour or send once a day. I would set this to once an hour and then republish/refresh the data after an hour from the time you set it up. And, see if you get the result. If you have this set to once a day then it takes a day or so to get the alert.

It is because you are republishing the dataset instead of refreshing the original dataset.
