I ran across this thread and noticied nobody had answered.  I have used CData quite often and am usually quite pleased.  With random errors like this it has almost always been the same 2 or 3 things (which are the same fundamental problem).  First, if users change the data structure (particularly when they rename or remove fields in the data source) I will get errors.  Second, if the data source upgrades, you have to get the latest CData software as well to apprehend that data.  Third, I have had refresh errors that were becuase my data source just didn't play nice with third party tools (like NetSuite doesn't play nice) and although CData showed the error, it was not the CData part that was breaking.

And, of course, you can always ask the CData support for what they think might be happening.
