Hi snippy506 , Microsoft is still looking at logs, no significant help yet (2 months open ticket).
Our alternative: we moved data from Sharepoint to Azure SQL Database. Here we had new error, data mashup issues, couldn't merge tables between Azure and SAP on premise. 
Solution was that we did lookup columns instead of merging tables. This seems to be working for now, no issues.
However, looking forward to hearing from Microsoft what was the issue and how to solve it.
