Custom connectors with Power BI service

I wrote a custom connector for PBI Desktop, and one of our users built a dashboard with it and wants to publish it to our organization with the service (despite my warning that it wouldn't work).

However, it has now fallen to me to make it work, so...is this even possible? I've looked briefly at Content Packs, but since Web.Contents is crippled (it doesn't return full response headers), I can't simply recreate the connector as a query. Is it possible to upload the connectors, or use either the Enterprise or Personal OnPrem Gateway to use the connector?

I've searched the web and the forums using every combination of words/conecpts I can think of, and I can't find anything that addresses this topic.

This should now be possible using the on premise gateway on which you can now install custom connectors. See here:

It seems to work with Custom Data Connector HelloWolrd (just published it on Power BI Service and used successfully this DataSet on a Dashboard).

Is this a chance or there are limitations for Custom Data Connector ?

It seem's that publishing Custom Data Connector HelloWorld is running on PowerBi Service (I've just tested it and include the DataSet in my DashBord).

Did you use any custom functions in power query, current power bi service not support custom function.

I think that's probably what you were referring to, but I'm grasping for anything here.

Current custom data connector seems only support on power bi desktop, perhaps you can submit an idea for this requirement.
