Credentials are missing error - custom connector with Oauth2

I have a custom connector for the Exact online API (exactonline.com) which uses Oauth2 authentication.  This connector works correctly in Power BI Desktop. I want to use this connection in Power BI S...

Hi Kelly, 

 

Thanks for your reply! The Gateway is installed in the Azure VM. Power BI Service is used outside of this environment. According to the documentation the gateway seems to be installed correctly. 

 

I saved the custom connector in the folder NT SERVICE\PBIEgwService. Is it possible that this might cause the problem? 

 

I tried my gateway connection with a csv file as input which was located on the VM This worked fine. However to make this connection to the csv file I had to insert my credentials for the Azure VM. I don't have to do this when I try to connect to the Custom Connector. Is it this part that needs extra configuration or something? It confuses me a bit that for a csv file I have to input the credentials to login to the VM and for a Custom Connector this is not necessary.

    Hi Anonymous ，

     

    Is the folder  NT SERVICE\PBIEgwService kept on VM?In your customer connector,it may already save the credential of the data source,so it's no need to configure the data source again,but if in the gateway connection,there's no data source configuration,you need first to configure data source to make the gateway work.

      v-kelly-msft Thank you for your help so far. I indeed have the folder inside of the VM. The gateway is also in the VM and it recognises the custom connector. Can you extend on data source configuration inside the gateway? I'm not sure in what other way I can configure my custom connector in the gateway.
