Credential Error when connecting to our Navision oData feeds

Hi,

I would like to take advantage of the 'Incremental Refreshes' functionality to speed up our Accounting model refreshes.

We are connecting to our Navision 2013 database via OData feeds.

Issue 1:

Our model is split in two major tables called LIVE and HISTORY.

The HISTORY one should not be refreshed once published in the cloud as its data is not meant to be changed. It is set on DO NOT 'Include in report refresh'.

The LIVE one should be refreshed once published in the cloud as it is meant to capture the latest incremental entries from Navision.

After that I append the two tables, so I can report the correct balances (LIVE + HISTORY).

When refreshing my PBIX locally on my machine, the refresh happens in less than 20 minutes. Which in my eyes implies than only the LIVE table is refreshing?

But once refreshed in the cloud, it takes more than 1h30, which makes me think that in this scenario both HISTORY and LIVE tables are refreshed.

Can anyone explain me why the Power BI Service behave like this? Why would the user experience differ from the Cloud than from the Desktop?

Issue 2:

I have installed a Data Gateway (thus not personal) in order to benefit from the cloud 'Power Query Editor' and 'Incremental Refreshes'.

I successfully connect/delete/reconnect to our SQL Database, but when connecting to OData feeds from Navision, my nightmare begins.

I did only manage to connect once to SOME (no all) of my sources. But since I deleted them from the Gateway Cluster, all my Navision OData feeds are returning the following error: "Invalid credentials.". I confirm that each feed does work nice from the PBI Desktop or Excel.

I have tried making use of the 'Basic', 'Windows', 'Anonymous' authentication methods and they do all return the same "Invalid credentials" error.

I do make use of the same login and password everywhere and do most probably enter the correct login and password as I do have to enter it multiple times per day when logging in to windows and/or other applications.

Did anyone ever succeed to connect Navision OData feeds to the Power BI service (cloud editor)? Well I did, but only once...

Can anyone tell me what am I doing wrong when setting this up?

Thank you all for your posts/comments!

Lionel

    Hi Lionel_CHAVEZ ,

For issue 1, "Include in report refresh" option only works for Power BI Desktop, it doesn't impact the refresh process in Power BI Service. In Power BI Desktop, when  you disable "Include in report refresh" option, data will not update in report view of Power BI Desktop after you click "Refresh" button in Desktop.

Based on research, it's not supported to disable refresh for one of the data source. but some OPs raised the idea in portal, please kindly vote for it :

(We need the ability to disable data refresh for individual data sources in the web service. Some data sources are unchanging and don't require refreshing)

For issue 2, would you mind republishing the report and manage the data source setting?
