Creating a new workspace

Hello!

I am on free trial for Power BI Pro but under a tenant and is a guest user. and I am figuring out on how to create a new workspace in order to link it to my Azure Synapse Analytics Studio.

I have already created a linked to Power BI and below is a screenshot of an example.

From what I understand, i realised in order to publish my power BI report to the synapse, i would need to create a dedicated work space on my power bi end. However, i don't see any options to do so on app.powerbi, clicking on the left top icon also does not give me any options unlike all the tutorials / help i tried to find.

Was wondering if the problem is a subscription issue or navigation issue. please help thank you!

Hi @Anonymous ,

To link a Power BI workspace to your Azure Synapse Analytics workspace, you can follow these steps:

  1. Open Synapse Studio and click on Manage.
  2. Under External Connections, click on Linked services.
  3. Click on + New and select Power BI.
  4. Enter a name for the linked service and select the Power BI workspace you want to link from the dropdown list.
  5. Click on Create.

Once your workspaces are linked, you can browse your Power BI datasets, edit/create new Power BI reports from Synapse Studio, and view your Power BI workspace in Synapse Studio.
