Creating a group in Power BI

I want to be able to manage membership to a workspace in Power BI using a group that exists in Outlook/Office 365. It's possible, or at least the documentation says it is, but doesn't seem to say how to do it, that I can find. When I try to type the group name in and add it to the workspace, it gives an error and says it can't be added. The issue is, people join and leave the team and I don't want to have to manually add and remove people from a team of over a thousand people.

So, how do I manage the membership of my workspace with a group that exists in Outlook/Office 365?

I know there is documentation mentioning this functionality at https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/whitepaper-powerbi-security, but the links to "create groups in Power BI" and "Groups in Power BI" just go to the support page, and a search for "groups", "create groups in Power BI" or "Groups in Power BI" there provides only 1 relevant result which is a post from 2016 saying the functionality isn't supported. I have sifted through about 6-8 different documentation pages on a treasure hunt to try and figure this out and I've lost my patience for it. So if there's an answer somewhere else, I'm of the opinion it's too hard to find and the links should lead to that, not a generic landing page with no further direction.

Sorry for the venting, I'm hoping that eventually the team will see my irate posts and correct some of these documentation bugaboos.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Anonymous This isn't solved. I don't know who marked it as solved, but it is not solved. I looked at the pages suggested by the other replies, and found this line "Add security groups, distribution lists, ..." confirming that I should be able to do what I want to do, but it doesn't work. Which is why I posted this topic.

    So...still unsolved.
