Creating a Report using Power BI Service
Hi medbea ,
Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Fabric Community.
Thank you lbendlin for your prompt response. You cannot create a new data model from scratch in Power BI Service. It must originate from Power BI Desktop.
Here are some resources to get you started with connecting to On-Prem data gateway ( ex: On -Prem SQL server ) from PowerBI.

Do you have documentation on how to create a semantic model and connect it to my gateway?
Sorry, I don't understand the question. Are you asking how to get the data from your on prem SQL into a semantic model? Do you want to use import mode or Direct Query mode? If you don't want to use Power BI Desktop then you would have to do all the necessary steps via the REST API.
