Create database for fabric lakehouse is not permitted

Hi, I'm trying to learn fabric and doing the exercise from https://microsoftlearning.github.io/mslearn-fabric/Instructions/Labs/01-lakehouse.html. When I try to load the file data into a table step, I got the error "Create database for <my lakehouse> is not permitted using Apache Spark in Microsoft Fabric". What should I do to fix this error?

Hi  @elaine_dunwoody ,

According to my search on the internal issue site, this is a known issue documented on the internal site, the root cause of the issue is a build and cluster setup related to this region Southeast Australia, the ADF endpoint is causing client requests to fail.

Based on the latest status of the issue, it appears that the issue has been mitigated this morning by some measures taken by the product team engineers, if it is convenient you can try to recreate the table to see if the issue is resolved in your cluster?

Liu Yang

I have activated the trial license and have created a workspace with the trial license as per the instructions in the exercise, but I'm getting this error. I can confirm that Fabric is also enabled in the Admin portal.

Hi  @elaine_dunwoody ,

First you'll need a Microsoft Fabric license to complete this exercise.

See Getting started with Fabric for details of how to enable a free Fabric trial license. You will need a Microsoft school or work account to do this. If you don’t have one, you can sign up for a trial of Microsoft Office 365 E3 or higher.

And make sure the tenant has turned on:

Enable Microsoft Fabric for your organization - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn

Then, you need to check that your tenant area is working properly with Fabric:

Find your Fabric home region - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn

Fabric region availability - Microsoft Fabric | Microsoft Learn
