Create a dashboard, then have someone else refreshing it.
Hi,
I'm a brand new user to Power BI. Impressed with it so far! Now making my first dashboard, and read almost everything about how data can be refreshed. What I fail to understand is the following:
I created a report in Power BI desktop, using an Excel sheet as datasource. This sheet gets updated every week, and is stored on a company share. Then I published to Power BI web, and created a dashboard out of it. At this stage, both the report and the dashboard are created in my account. This means that I am the only one who can update the report, and subsequently the dashboard. How can I transfer or share this responsibility, so that if I'm off, someone else can take this over?
Thanks for your help!
this would also depend on if you are a member of a group. I have several datasets and reports that I have built within a group. Another member of the group (with admin rights) has a desktop (I have a laptop). She simply goes to the dataset under schedule refresh and takes over the report for refresh purposes. That is simply a matter of clicking the large buttun that says "Take Over".
That being said, we are moving the gateway to the server and switching over to the data gateway. In that case, it is simply a matter of assigning capabilities or setting up scheduled refresh.

First, I would check into scheduled refresh so that the report and dashboard gets refreshed automagically. Otherwise, I believe you just need to share your report with someone else and they can the hit the refresh button.

Hi jbeemsterboer,
I agree with kcantor. But please note Power BI group is a Pro feature. You can refer to this article to get more about group: Create a group to collaborate in Power BI.
