Create Personal Power BI Pro Account
Hi,
I am wanting to pay myself for a Power BI Pro Account, as my work use a different solution and are not letting me expense it.
I do not currently have a Microsoft account, just a gmail one (that is linked to microsoft services), but it doesn't look like I can use that for this. Do I need to create a new Microsoft account and make sure it's a work one, not personal? How I do this and make it a work one? I can see how to create a personal one, but not sure how I make sure it is a work one.
Thanks,
Benji

Hi benjikj_mcsp
Yes, you can do this. The instructions are here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-admin-signing-up-for-power-bi-with-a-new-office-365-trial
1. Sign up for free trial of Microsoft 365.
2. This creates an account that you can use with Power BI. ( it will be something like [email protected])
3. Sign up for Power BI as an individual, using your new email address.
4. When Microsoft 365 trial ends, your email continues.
5. Optionally, you can have emails forwarded from your Microsoft account to your gmail account.
6. Open Power BI and when prompted, sign up for free trial personal Power BI Pro. After trial ends, pay for Pro. I believe it's approx $10 month.

Hi Jay,
I was guessing that I needed to, but you're not really answering the question I had.
I am asking how I actually create a work account? I can't find where to do that and make sure it's a work account not a personal one.

Hey,
So I have just tried creating a microsoft account, but it defaults straight to a personal one.
So question still stands, how can I create a work microsoft account that I can use for Power BI Pro, when my work does not let me pay for it thoruhg them?
Thanks,
Benji
