Hi everyone! I created a dashboard in Power BI Desktop and published it to Power BI Web. However, I’ve noticed that after publishing, the data on the web version doesn’t update when I press refresh. It only shows the data from the time of publishing. When I refresh the dashboard in the desktop version, it updates correctly. Why isn’t the web version refreshing with the latest data? How can I solve this issue?
I would like to scehdule refresh too every few hours, that will be great.
Really apreciate your guidance!
Hi @KainLittleCloth ,
The refresh on desktop and service is different. You need to configure credentials for it on service, you may still need to use the gateway, see this link:Data refresh in Power BI - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
If you are still having problems, please specify the type of data source you are connecting to, through which connection mode.
Hope it helps!

These can be done in following ways.
1.In service, manually take over the dataset and change connection credentials manually to your datasource.
2.Create a service principal.
3. Create Azure Devops pipeline using Power BI Action extension to i)Takeover the dataset by service principal, ii) Update credentials for datasource
4.Option 3 can also be achieved using power shell script instead of Azure Devops pipeline
Thanks,
Pallavi
Hi @pallavi_r , Thank you for your solution. I think I will be going for the first method. However, I noticed that my “Data Source Credentials" is greyed. I am the owner and I am the one who created the workspace and published the dashboard. What can I do about this?
Hi @KainLittleCloth ,
Cloud data sources are usually connected via a direct connection, which you can learn more about by following this link:Connect to cloud data sources in the Power BI service - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
The reason for the gray display may be that the gateway is not installed or the cloud data source is not enabled to force the use of the gateway refresh
Hope it helps!
