Copilot response not correct

I've recently started integrating Copilot with my data using the "Prep data for AI" feature. While Copilot generally provides accurate responses when it performs its own calculations, it occasionally pulls answers from existing report visuals, which can be incorrect.

Is there a way to disable this behavior so that Copilot does not reference any visuals in the report and instead always calculates responses based on the formulas provided by the developer?

Hi @Mastermayank26 ,

The "Prep data for AI" feature is awesome and I have personally not had this use case. However, one workaround I believe may work is to add AI instructions within the "Prep data for AI" feature telling Copilot to not reference existing visuals in the report.

Here is some documentation around the AI instructions feature: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/create-reports/copilot-prepare-data-ai-instructions

If this helped, please mark it as the solution so others can benefit too. And if you found it useful, kudos are always appreciated.

Thanks,

Samson

Hi @Mastermayank26  ,
Thanks for reaching out to the Microsoft fabric community forum.

There is no explicit feature to disable the behaviour you are experiencing, please try refining your instructions using prompt engineering techniques to guide the system's behavior more effectively. This can help ensure that the responses align with your expectations and may prevent the underlying issue from reoccurring. By crafting more specific and structured prompts, you may be able to influence how the system interprets and executes your requests.

@Mastermayank26  - you can limit Copilot search by configuring the AI instructions as mentioned by @SamsonTruong , I am using this and its working in most of cases, there are few limitations but still happy with this new feature.

If this post helps, then please consider Accept it as the solution, Appreciate your Kudos!!

Hi @Mastermayank26 I don’t think it’s possible to fully restrict Copilot from referencing report visuals. However, one way to improve accuracy is by crafting better prompts that specify Copilot should calculate answers directly using the dataset or formulas.
