Copilot does not combine or inherit synonyms across cultures. Each translation has its own linguistic metadata, so English (en-US) synonyms will not be picked up from the DE-DE object. If your model needs Copilot to understand terms in both languages, you must maintain a separate linguistic metadata object for each culture. Adding English synonyms inside the DE-DE metadata won’t help they must be defined in the en-US translation.

How does Copilot know, which language is used by the user? Theoretically a user could also prompt in the 3rd lanuage right? And internally it would probably work? Would Copilot default to English synonyms during the internal translation?

It does not “auto-switch” or guess languages. If a user writes the prompt in English, Copilot uses the en-US linguistic metadata; if they write in German, it uses the DE-DE metadata. It will not fall back to English synonyms unless the English metadata exists. So if you expect prompts in multiple languages, you must maintain a metadata object for each language.
