Consume data from ECC on Hana Enterprise Cloud

Hi all,

Does anyone know if it's possible to connect PBI Desktop to SAP HANA running on HANA Enterprise Cloud then publish to the service?  I had assumed that we could use the "SAP HANA" data source in the On-Premise Data Gateway but I think this may only be for an on-premise Hana db.

Can anyone confirm that it is possible to consume data from HEC in the PowerBI service and how it would be done?

Thanks all!

Ed

You are correct.  The SAP HANA data source is for on-premise Hana database. It's not supported to connect "SAP HANA Cloud" database. Please submit feature request on Idea: https://ideas.powerbi.com/forums/265200-power-bi

However, since SAP HANA provides ODBC driver, you can consider installing it, configure the DSN and connect via ODBC in Power BI Desktop.

Thanks for the reply Simon.  We'll explore the ODBC connection through the gateway.
