Connection to PowerBI database not working in report

Hi all,

I created a report in the PowerBI desktop (pbix) using excel files as data and a direct query data connection from another PowerBI database. When I publish the .pbix file into the Report Server, all visuals based on the excel files are fine. However for the visuals based on the PowerBI datavase I get this error when the data is loading:

How can I make my visualisations appear again?

By the way: I have a PowerBi Premium PU (per user) licence.

Regards,

Yvonne

  • Can run your report on power bi desktop directly on the PBIRS server ?

I think it's a firewall issue or driver

      Hi,

I think that it has something to do with the driver and firewall indeed, as I can also not connect to the Sharepoint in PowerBI desktop.

How can I check if I can run my report on power bi desktop directly on the PBIRS server?

      Regards,

      Yvonne

You need to access directly the PBIRS server and run your report. Ask your IT team

    Hi Yvonne24

When you say that "other source is PowerBI Database" dou you mean a Dataset that resides into another workspace in the service? if so then you need a permission and be Member of that workspace in order to use the Dataset.

The database is in the same workspace and created by myself, so this should not be the problem.

After a lot of trial and error: What seems to be the problem is that the original data of the database is stored on my onedrive. Which the server can not connect to via the direct query on the server. I tried the same for data on the Sharepoint, which I can't even upload in the powerBI desktop.

    Has anyone suggestions?

    Regards,

    Yvonne
