Connection to Azure SQL Database with Private Endpoint

Hello experts,

I'm setting up an architecture that will use Azure Private endpoint for Azure SQL Database and also would want to connect to the SQ database (with Private endpoint)  with PowerBI. Please do I need a VM with data management gateway on an azure vnet to connect to the SQL Database?

Here is the tutorial about how to connect to an Azure SQL server using an Azure Private Endpoint.

In this tutorial, you need create:

• Virtual network and bastion host.
• Virtual machine.
• Azure SQL server with private endpoint.

You can use the virtual machine to test connectivity securely to the SQL server across the private endpoint.
