Connecting to Power BI Dataflows - Missing Partition Information. Please refresh this entity.

Hi MS Team,

Can you please tell me how to fix a connection error I have when trying to create a link to an entity in Dataflows.  I receive an error when trying to create a new query in desktop which says:

Reason: DataSource.Error

Message: Missing partition information. Please refresh this entity.

Detail: null

I have the latest version of desktop (Version: 2.64.5285.741 64-bit (November 2018)). I have also refreshed the Entity numerous times.

Thanks

Kirsty

Many thanks

Kirsty

  • I also have this problem. I have data in tables that I can see on the service via the browser, Power BI desktop can see the dataflow structure. HOwever, as I write this I just saw the page with the green refresh arrows at top left of the screen. Apparently that was the refresh? Because I can now see data!

Hi Paula Where did you see the green refresh arrows? On Service or Desktop? Could you give me a step by step explanation on what you did to be able to load in the Dataflow? Thanks Joe

    Hi Kirsty,

Did you just want to connect to the Dataflow? Or try to link entities

If you'd like to load the data from the Dataflow, please try jenningp's solution. Or load it anyway.

Was there any other information about the error message?

    Best Regards,
    Dale

  • Thanks all.  I tried to connect today and it worked first time but I trust that it was because the 'refresh' happened by opening a new instance of Power BI forcing the refresh you suggested.

A learning for MS though that this is not user friendly.
