Connect to Excel

My group of co-worker from other department has Excel file that they input data daily. Now we come to the point that we want to import this data then combine with another source (non-excel) into a Power BI report.

Do you have any suggestion for us if we are currently not having Sharepoint drive? The Excel file is Departmental property, so it cannot be place in public place, neither within any individual Onedrive.

    What is the issue with accessing the Excel file from its current location?

    lbendlin the excel file is not going to be shared to anyone else outside of the department, but only grant Power BI to access for limited data serving cross department report.

    The department update the excel file daily.

      Teach someone in that department how to use Power BI and how to publish a PBIX that points to the Excel file.

    lbendlin thanks for your promptly reply. I think my question is how to let Department B use part of Data from the Excel file of Department A in the context of not having SharePoint setup.

      You can have a scenario where a user is manually re-publishing the PBIX (with the Excel file residing on that user's PC if needed).  That would not require a Sharepoint.
