Connect cloud data from local through gateway.

I can't connect the cloud information when I publish the report from my local machine.

The connection I have from my local machine is: IP:port, and when I try to configure it to connect through the gateway, it doesn't connect and gives me the following error:

Thank you in advance.

The problem is how you call the server from your local machine. To do it, you must call it in the following way:

Server IP , Port -> 1.111.111,0101

I have followed your instructions, but they haven't worked for me. I'll provide more information to make it clearer.

I am publishing information from Power BI Desktop locally that is stored on the server. However, when configuring the report to update, it asks for a gateway, but when I link it to the server's gateway, it gives me an error.

You can try connecting to a database on a server from your computer, and then when you publish, it won't link to your gateway.

Thank you. @Anonymous

Hi @Dragonmad6 ,

Based on the information you provided, it appears that you encountered a connection error while configuring the gateway to access the cloud data source. There are several steps you can take to resolve the issue:

  1. Ensure that the gateway has been configured to allow cloud data sources to refresh through it.
More details can be found in the following documentation:
Merge or append on-premises and cloud data sources - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
  2. Verify that the data source settings in the Power BI service match the data source settings in the Power BI Desktop file. This includes the server name, database name, and any other relevant connection information.
  3. Double-check that the gateway has been properly installed and configured on the local computer. This includes ensuring that the gateway is online and that you have the permissions required to use it. An installation and configuration guide can be found here.

If these steps do not resolve your issue, can you provide more information:

  • The version of the Local Data Gateway you are using.
  • Have you ensured that the gateway has access to the cloud data sources mentioned in the documentation?

Best Regards,

Ada Wang
