Connect App audiences and Row-level Security role assignment

Hey,

currently I have a Dataset and a report based an that. I activated RLS for that dataset and created two roles for Product managers (can only see their product) and controlling department, which can see every product.

Now I created an app and realized the audience feature but then I asked myself how it would be possible to connect roles of RLS with audiences. The feature to request access and approve these requests is very interesing in regards to assign an user to an audience but afterwards I need to assign him manually to a role on dataset level.

Alternative could only be to duplicate Dataset (one with the restricted role and on for controllers with all products), create a report for the "controller" dataset and assign both reports/datasets to the different audiences.

Is there a better way to connect audiences with role assignments on a dataset?

The RLS does the same in an app compared to publishing it to the service.

The audience feature restricts access to the app. This becomes interesting if you load multiple reports into one app but you don't want every app user to see all reports. The RLS in each report is preserved.

Just remember that audiences just split the content of what people can see (reports basically)

RLS on the other hand is applied at the dataset level, it has nothing to do with reports and it just filters/slices the data but everyone still sees the same thing pretty much.
