Configure connections and rules for pipeline data sources from devops

Hello
We have been asked to be able to configure the connections of the different origins of the development worspace, preproduction worspace and production worspace by means of a configuration file. Does anyone know if it is possible?

Would it be possible to configure the connections and connection rules in the powerBI pipeline using devops, api, poweshell?

Currently we have developed a pipeline in devops that uploads the powerbi files from the git repository to the development workspace and then allows you to deploy to preproduction and production. The configuration of the connections (username and password) is done directly in the power BI service and is something that the customer asks us to change.

Thank you very much

Hi @egmarcote_aldab ,

There are a few ways you can configure the connections and rules for pipeline data sources from devops, api, or powershell.

You can  use the API to get or update the deployment rules for a pipeline stage.
You can use the Power BI Cmdlets for PowerShell to perform the same operations as the REST API. For example, you can use the cmdlet to create a new deployment pipelineNew-PowerBIDeploymentPipeline.
You can use Azure DevOps to automate the deployment of Power BI content using pipelines and tasks. You can use the Power BI Actions extension to create tasks that interact with the Power BI service.
