Concurrent Users using Power BI Pro License and Premium Per User (PPU) License
Dear all,
I have questions regarding concurrent users using the same Power BI Pro and Power BI Premium Per User Licenses.
There can be concurrent users using the same Power BI Pro License or PPU License. But, what defines how many concurrent users can be there at a time?
Each report in Power BI Pro cannot exceed 1 GB. Does that mean the total size of reports opened by all the users cannot exceed 1 GB?
In case of PPU, if we enable Large semantic models, the document says that each semantic model can reach 100 GB (10GB max while publishing and it can reach up to 100 GB through incremental load), does that mean the total size of all the reports opened by all the concurrent users can reach 100 GB?
Hi P0werBIn00b In Power BI Pro, the 1 GB limit applies per dataset, not cumulatively across users. Concurrent users are supported based on service resource capacity, not a fixed limit.
In PPU, enabling Large Semantic Models allows individual datasets to grow up to 100 GB through incremental refresh. This limit is per dataset, not cumulative across all users. Concurrency depends on the infrastructure capacity of the Power BI service.

Since Microsoft hasn't imposed a hard limit on the number of concurrent users or the total memory that can be used by a single user, what would the performance be like when opening approximately 900 MB reports in 5 concurrent sessions? What's stopping anyone from doing this?

Microsoft hasn’t imposed a hard limit on concurrent sessions, but resource throttling and dynamic allocation ensure fair usage. In PPU, dedicated capacity reduces this issue, but excessive usage or complex reports can still impact performance. Optimizing datasets and monitoring resource usage helps mitigate these challenges.
