Composite Dataset - Not loading visuals

Hi,

My team are currently working on a project that requires them to combine a couple of our shared Power BI datasets then report from the new "combined" dataset. We have done this previously with some success, however this time the visuals will not load on the reports and we see this error at the top of the report:

With visuals on the report showing the following:

jhudson21_1-1626774665138.png

We have seen this in the past and a refresh of all the datasets connected seemed to work. We have also checked to make sure the viewers have build permissions on the connected datasets and they do, even myself as an Admin on all of the datasets/workspaces gets the above messages so we don't believe it's a permissions issue.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this same message when using composite datasets?

Thanks

hi @v-luwang-msft ,

The thread didn't really have a solution for us, just advised to raise a ticket. We have however managed to make it work again, though not how we wanted. The solution for us was to remove the Import query in the Compsite Dataset, delete and republish the dataset and reports. Only once we had done this then refreshed all the connected datasets did it work again.

thanks

Update on this, a further issue or bug found, when using a composite model we are now seeing that randomly some users are getting the below error:

jhudson21_0-1630654758876.png

These users can see pretty much every other visual on the report, just two have an X and produce this error when clicking see details, these users have the same permissions as others who are able to see the visuals in question so i am a bit stumped for how to fix this. I have removed the dataset connection, re-added it, rebuilt the report from scratch, just cannot figure out what this means, any help would be greatly appreciated! 🙂

Thanks

Hi @Anonymous ,

Similar questions ,refer(not  Composite Dataset ,refresh, the same error info) :https://community.powerbi.com/t5/Service/Error-when-trying-to-refresh-dataset-COM-error-Microsoft-Data/m-p/1183024

And you could try to download the  final pbix flie and use Power BI desktop to open it .Check if it could use by Power BI desktop. If could ,publish again.

Wish it is helpful for you!
