Comparison: Pin Live Page vs Publish to Web

Hi,

Nothing popped up in Google and in the forum, so I'm posting...

Can somebody please do a summary on the differences between a Pin Live Page and Publish to Web, please include how the report would look like specially if it's more than a single page. The PowerBI features/functionalities, are there any difference

I know just a couple so I won't bother listing them down.

Please...... very much appreciated...

Hi @ovetteabejuela,

From my understanding here are the differences below.

Pin Live Page

  • This will pin the entire report page to a dashboard.
  • Because you are Pinning a Live page to a dashboard you will still have to Share the dashboard in order to Share it with someone.
  • When pinning a Live page, it can only be shared with people who are going to have to log into the Power BI Service.
  • Also when you make changes to the underlying Report page, it will be updated in the Dashboard also.
  • Here is a link explaining the Pin Live Page

Publish to Web

  • First and foremost when publishing to the web there is no security in place, so anyone who has access to the URL will be able to view the data in the report.
  • When you publish to web, you are actually publishing all the report pages.
  • Publish to web does not publish the dashboard.
  • Here is a link that further explains the publish to web
