Using the feature to combine import tables, in this case from a Power BI data flow, with tables using direct query to another Power BI dataset, the option to schedule refresh for the published (combined) data set is not available in the Power BI Service.
The source data flow, the source data set and the resulting combined data set (that I wish to schedule a refresh for) are all published in the same premium workspace. I am admin (but has not "taken over") the source data set.
However, when I publish the combined dataset to "My Workspace" instead of the Premium capacity workspace the schedule refresh option is available. This makes me think that the feature indeed is supported in Power BI Service but that I am missing a setting or other prerequisite. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
Thanks!
Hi @riwer ,
Find Datasets in Setting.
Select your data source and check whether the credentials inside are successfully configured in Data Source credentials.

Thank you for the reply. After trying out various combinations the conclusion seems to be that a data set that uses another dataset (direct query) plus a dataflow (import) just can't have a scheduled refresh.
Your direct query data source does not require a refresh, and the dataflow likely has its own schedule? Any other on-prem data source in your dataset?
Thank you for the reply,
There are no other on-prem data sources and yes, the data flow has its own schedule (A). But to my understanding, the combined data set (B) that uses the data flow (A) as one source would still need a refresh of its own? The tables in my combined data set that hold data from the data flow use "Import" as storage mode.
