Changing top N filter to Basic or advanced makes it so it cant be changed back to top

In a Power BI App I have on a Visual Level Filter, If a users changes a top filter to basic or advanced they are not able to change it back to top N without resetting to default

Is there a way to fix this. I dont want to lock the filter because i want the user to be able to change the number of rows to filter on.

Thank you in advanced

Hi Mike, I usually thing activating the filter pane is not a good practice. Anyway, if you want the filter to automatically go back to a default state without selecting "reset to default", then you can disable the option of the report that allows them to store filters for the user:

https://powerbi.microsoft.com/en-us/blog/announcing-persistent-filters-in-the-service/

That's the post of the announcement. You can find how to disable that option from Power Bi Desktop in the last picture. It can also be disabled from Service at the report settings, but if the desktop file is published and replaced again it will overwrite the setting.

I hope that helps,
