What do I need to do if I need to reset the incremental refresh settings? For example, I was archiving 1 year but I want to change it to 3 years. Or, I want to change the incremental refresh period from 1 week to 1 month instead.
I'm asking because once I publish to the Power BI Service it says I cannot download the pbix file again due to it being partitioned. How do I do this so I don't disrupt any reports that are using and pointing to the original dataset?
Hi @arock-well
Yeah it is a challenge at times, but once you understand how these things work it makes it a lot easier.
Hi @arock-well
If you are using Power BI Premuim Per User or Premium you can make this change using the ALM Toolkit
If you are using Power BI Pro, you will have to make the change outside of the working hours. Then click on the Refresh now button which will then reload all the data based on your updated partitions.
@GilbertQ Thanks. I'm not familiar with the ALM Toolkit, so I'll have to check that out.
I wish MS would make it as easy to configure and change dataset incremental refreshes as it is with dataflows. Seems kind of clunky compared to dataflows.
