Change Data Lineage from Web Interface

Hi, I would like to ask if there is a way to change the data lineage of a power bi dashboard from one to another. Both sources are cloud servers and should have the same structure and they are all in power bi already, but I cannot find a way to change the lineage from the web interface.

All the tutorials online talk about how to change data lineage in desktop app, but is it possible to do it on web UI? Thanks.

Hi @sadlulu ,
You can follow my steps below to open power query online and then go to the interface to change the connection of the data source, in this case you need to make sure that the table structure is the same between your data sources.

Hi Thank you for the reply. Sorry for the late response. I think I worded my question wrong. I was trying to change the dataflow that's connected to models.

I want to change this "MSPI_MVP2_Dataflow" to another dataflow, say "dataflow_new". How would I do that?
also, how do I open power query? I couldn't find it in the web ui. Thanks

Hi Shen, I followed your steps but the source of both dataflows are the same. My goal was to change the source of semantic model to another dataflow, not to change the source of dataflow. Would this be possible?

Hi @sadlulu ,

We can change the data lineage in the web ui, we have to use dataflow in the power bi server to do it.

Let's take SharePoint Cloud as an example.

At this point I'd like to source test2 from 888, but I'd like to use data source 666, and we can go into the power query in dataflow and change the data source to make sure that we're switching to a different data source.

At this point, we need to make sure that the structure of the table is the same, otherwise we may have problems.

Authentication is re-verified when the data source is changed.

Here, due to environmental constraints, I did not use a second cloud data source for the operation, but you can still see that the data source has changed, I hope that my example will help you with your question, if you have questions, feel free to contact me.

Hope it helps!
