Cannot use on-premise data-gateway connection for a dataset, what am I missing ?

Hi,

I have a gateway installed, connected. PBI Service shows the gw as online, I have created a connection in PBI Service to a local csv file on the gateway itself, again it shows as online.

I have then created a report using a different .csv file as a dataset in PBI desktop and published it to the workspace.

If I access the dataset in PBI service and select Refresh | scheduled refresh | Gateway connections. I see my gw, which shows "not configured correctly". I select the right arrow, and select add to gw.

I create another connection, which works (shows as online). I'm then returned to the gateway list page and see the gw, but it still shows "shows not configured correctly".

What am I missing with the workflow on how to use an existing on-premise gateway connection ? I can't create a report in Power BI service to use it, only way I assume is create a report/dataset on desktop and publish and then try and change it.

Any ideas ? where can I find PBI service errors ?

Many thanks

Matt

In case someone else has this problem, I needed to update the file path on the data gateway to the same as the local for it to pick up the csv file and allow the mapping. If anyone knows where to see that error it would be helpful to know for the future.
