Cannot publish "Only users with Power BI Pro licenses can publish to this workspace."

Hi,

We have onboarded on of our customers to Power BI with trial Pro licenses.

When we however try to publish a model to a modern workspace, we get the error: "Only users with Power BI Pro licenses can publish to this workspace."

Publishing to a classic workspace works just fine.

What can be the issue?

Thanks,

Mark

Hi @VGWAdmin ,

According to your description, my understanding is that you are going to publish the report to an APP workspace, App workspaces are only available with a Power BI Pro license. Please refer to this document: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/service-collaborate-power-bi-workspace

Best Regards,

Teige

Hi,

The users have a Pro license (albeit a trial).
That's the reason I'm posting this question.

Regards,

Mark

Well i just receive a survey popup... i guess im filing that in haha cant believe this is 20 years old issue =))

Funny thing is that i was able to publish it like 2 or 3 times... then it went intermittent and now i cant upload from Desktop version.

Can still upload and replace on online app

The error I'm getting is in PBI Desktop when publishing a pbix from latest Desktop Version: 2.80.5803.1061 64-bit (April 2020)

Same .pbix uploads fine if we upload from the web app.

Error:
Couldn't publish to Power BI
Only users with Power BI Pro licenses can publish to this workspace.

And of course I am using a trial Pro license in this instance.

@PBIChampions

@Pasha007

Please try to publish the file directly from Power BI Service.

Log on to Power BI Service >> select the workspace >> Get Data (bottom left corner) >> Files >> Get >> Local File >> Browse the PBIX File.
