Cannot access a Power BI Premium workspace using a Power BI Free license
Hi,
My organization has a Premium Capacity. So not Premium Per User (PPU), but actual Premium Capacity. When I try to access a workspace which is visible to the left (notice how the absence of a small person-icon shows it is not PPU but Premium Capacity),
I get the following message:
From https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/consumer/end-user-features, where it is mentioned that
I would conclude that my Free account,
would be able to access this workspace. Why is Power BI prompting me to get Power BI Pro then?
Kind regards,
Stijn Verhoeven
Hi Anonymous
I think you need to check the role that is been assigned to you in workspace - https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/consumer/end-user-features#workspaces-and-roles

AnkitKukreja, thanks for you answer! After testing, this looked to be the correct conclusion.

What role have you been assigned in the workspace?
I have found that users with free licenses can only access the workspace if they have the Viewer role (and nothing higher). I'm pretty sure that's specified

Thanks for your answer AMD0791. I believe I was assigned the role of contributor (it was in Dutch, plus it was indirectly by means of Active Directory groups). Your suggestion looked to be the correct conclusion.
