Can't setup a gateway connection for an AzureDevOps connection to schedule refresh a dashboard
Hi,
So I've got a work dashboard which allows us to track certain things from different areas in one place instead of opening up lots of different systems. Previously it only had a connection to our DevOps and my manager had somehow gotten the scheduled refreshes to work however, I had to take over the dashboard and we lost the connections and can not reconnect them.
I can refresh the dashboard manually in the actual Power BI app fine, it's setting up the actual connections in the service side / gateway.
It is connected using OData and I log in using my OAuth credentials. When I test the link in the gateway it says it is fine but it will not refresh.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Hi TaylorPB,
Maybe You dont needed a gateway to do it.
The primary issue is that OData connections using OAuth2 authentication are not supported through the on-premises data gateway. The Power BI Service cannot authenticate via OAuth2 through the gateway for cloud-based sources such as Azure DevOps.
Recommended Action:- Do not use the gateway for this connection.
- Instead, configure the refresh directly in the Power BI Service:
- Navigate to Power BI Service > Dataset > Settings > Data source credentials.
- Select OAuth2 as the authentication method.
- Sign in using your Azure DevOps credentials.
- Save and test the connection.
Note: This approach is only valid if the PBIX file is using Import mode (not DirectQuery). If this response was helpful in any way, Iβd gladly accept a πmuch like the joy of seeing a DAX measure work first time without needing another FILTER.
Please mark it as the correct solution. It helps other community members find their way faster (and saves them from another endless loop π.
