Can't set Teams channel email address in a data set's failure notification configuration field

When attempting to paste an MS Teams channel email with domain "@amer.teams.ms" in the "Send refresh failure notifications to" configuration field in Dataset Settings in Power BI service, I get the following field validation error

"One or more e-mail addresses with the following domains are outside your organization: <hex-channel-id>.<company>.onmicrosoft.com@amer.teams.ms" and can't submit the email. We want to notify a channel whenever a Power BI error occurs and am open to alternate methods if this one proves to be a security issue.

Can you send to that email address and it works?

If so check in your Office 365 Admin / Azure Active Directory that the email address or distribution group exists?
