Can't re-publish a report with the same URL

I have a report which was first developed with a live connection to a PBI dataset and published to a workspace in PBI Service. Then I changed the connection to a mixed model - kept the same PBI dataset, but additionaly imported some tables from Sharepoint. Now I am no longer able to overwrite the version that is already published. When I publish the version that has a mixed connection, the result is that I have 2 reports with the same name but different URLs.

How can I overwrite the report in PBI Service to keep the same URL of the report?

A colleague of mine working in the same project went through the same process with his reports and he said he had no such issue.

I checked the name of the .pbix file carefully and there are no additional spaces, typos etc.

Thank you for your answer. Unfortunately, that would not have been a solution in my case. You can't download a report from the Datasets tab if it uses a live connection.

I ended up publishing the report with a new URL, removing the "old" report with the old URL and apologizing to the affected users for the inconvenience.

My example is one of the reasons why sharing the content via apps rather than via workspaces is a good idea...

Hi @Iwanicki ,

According my test ,you need to download pbix file from  Power BI service, then adjust on the downloaded pbix and publish ,it will replace before report and dataset.

the first report by use sql :

the second by use sql and excel:

And you could refer the following article,it tells:I was not able to overwrite my old report by downloading the pbix from the Reports tab in my Workspace, but I was able to when downloading the pbix from the Datasets tab instead. This might be due to renaming the report from my Power BI Service in the past, so when downloading the pbix file from that tab, it attempts to publish a new dataset with the new name.
