Can't edit or create a semantic model

Hi All,

A few days ago, I moved my workspace from Fabric Trial to Premium Capacity, and I am encountering the following issues:

1. I can't edit table or create a semantic model. It shows the following error:

We could not fetch your lakehouse schema

PowerBI service client received error HTTP response. HttpStatus: 400. PowerBIErrorCode: PowerBINotAuthorizedException

2. I can still read and write tables in the lakehouse using notebooks without any issues.

Could you please advise what could be causing this and how to resolve it?

Thank you for your support.

Hi @hangnt ,

Even if your workspace is on Premium Capacity, Power BI Pro or PPU license is required at the user level to create or edit semantic models. The Fabric Trial lets you use notebooks and Lakehouse features, but doesn't cover Power BI authoring. There's no alternative workaround, upgrading your user license is the only way to resolve this.

Thank you.

Fabric trail is a per user based capacity license, I mean its a user license. Do you still own that license even after moving your workspace to premium capacity? If not, what is your current user license? I guess you cancelled Fabric trail license and you have Fabric free user license. Please be informed that users with free license can create or use fabric items. They cannot perform any Power BI tasks, like creating/updating semantic models or reports.

Please check your current user license if it is free user license and get one power bi pro license for your account and try again.

Hi @tharunkumarRTK,

Thank you for your response.

Currently, my personal account is under a Fabric Trial license, and the workspace is on Premium Capacity, where I have admin rights (as shown in the screenshot I attached). However, at the moment, I do not have a Power BI Pro license on my personal account to check whether the solution you suggested would resolve the issue. Is there any alternative solution I could try, or is obtaining a Pro license the only option in this case?

Thank you again for your support.
