Can't configure gateway datasource for Sharepoint List

I have a Sharepoint List (Sharepoint online) which I can connect to from PBI Desktop (using "Microsoft Account" option).  The data refreshes in Power BI Dekstop.  I have now published this to Power BI Service, and when I try to set up the datasource (as data source type SharePoint) in the Gateway (enterprise version not personal), I get the error:

Unable to connect: We encountered an error while trying to connect to . Details: "Please upgrade your On-premises data gateway (or gateway cluster) to support this feature.

Error Code:	DMTS_PowerBIDataMovementGatewayNotSupportedError

I am trying to use the OAuth2 option, and I get the error when I click the Edit Credentials button.

The gateway installed is the most recent version (June 2020).

Any ideas or help greatly appreciated.

2 ACCEPTED SOLUTIONS

Hi @cmncp ,

It's just to confirm the credentials and not is necessary to configure a gatway when just SharePoint is being used.

If the problem is merging or appending on-premises and cloud data sources, refer to this document

Merge or append on-premises and cloud data sources

I have fixed the problem, thanks.

Just to clarify for anyone with the same problem, I was trying to set up the gateway to connect to the sharepoint list.  This is not necessary.  Rather than trying to configure the gateway, I just needed to configure the Data Source Crendentials, click edit next to the sharepoint data source and select the user to connect with.

@amitchandak Thanks for the reply.  The error in the link is different to the one I am expriencing, so unfortunately it does not help.
