Basically the title, this issue has started, earlier this week, and it is critical mainly now when it is the start of the month, our teams depend on Power BI to get the data they need, and now they have been left empty handed and unable to do their jobs.
If this is a new toggle or option we have to enable on our workspace please instruct me, these are the options I'm talking about:
While creating a report: "The export is not avaliable when creating a report. Save your changes and try again"
After saving the report: "The data export is not avaliable in this workspace"
I've checked and our "export to excel option" for the whole org is enabled on the admin panel.
Solved! Go to Solution.
@ibarrau wrote:Hi. I can't find the exact text at the docs but yeah, you can't export something you have just draged and dropped. You must save it first.
That is because since Power BI's creation up to earlier this week you could do that, and Microsoft just changed that without saying a word.
Hi @dlopesc04 ,
You can refer this -
https://community.fabric.microsoft.com/t5/Service/Power-BI-Export-Feature-Not-Working/m-p/728680
If you are looking for a automatic extraction you can check power automate (power bi -run a query against a dataset).
Thanks,

This is not it at all.
Hi. You can prevent excel export from 3 places. One would be the tenant settings and the org like you are saying. However, you should look at the last two checks of the export setting:
If you have one of those, then the workspace admin can prevent it even if it's allowed for the whole organization.
Another way of preventing the export it's from the "report setting". You can disable the setting for specific report. In order to validate this you can try export at a different report in the workspace or outside the workspace. That way you could validate which setting is the one prevent you to export.
I hope that helps,
Happy to help!
Export is enabled everywhere you mentioned. Still we can't export data on a visual in a report while it is being created, while just last week it was possible.
Ok. If everything is turned on. Then you should deep dive in the scenario. There might be a consideration that's breaking the possibility. Read the limitations: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/power-bi/visuals/power-bi-visualization-export-data?tabs=powerbi-s...

Could you go to the service right now, create a blank report connected to a semantic model, just add a table to it and a random field, select more aptions and try to click export data?
If you are able can you screenshot it?
Hi. I can't find the exact text at the docs but yeah, you can't export something you have just draged and dropped. You must save it first. Then you can remove it and save back again if you didn't want to keep it. If you just want to export on demand columns, the datasets have a Table feature for that. When you open a dataset you don't need to edit them, you can pick columns, build a table and export.
