Can Power BI service connect to Azure APIM using datasource credentials

I have a report created using a Web connector connectint to an API exposed via the Azure APIM and the report is published to Power BI service. Now when I go to the Semantic Model settings, the data Source Credentials is disabled.

Do you know if Azure APIM is supported for Datasource cedential authentication.

We have a similar web connection to Sharepoint online files and we are able to authenticate using Data Source credentials.

Thanks for your help

Hi @BarGraph2020 ,

Based on your problems, here are my answers.

Firstly, APIM supports data source credential authentication in Power BI Service. I think this document may help you: Connecting and authenticating to data sources - Power Platform | Microsoft Learn

Secondly, your reference to the Data Source Credentials option being disabled in the Power BI service is, I believe, a result of the appropriate permissions being set in the Power BI or Azure settings.

For APIs managed by Azure APIs, you may need to ensure that the APIs are configured to accept the authentication method used by Power BI. You can also look at this document: How do I find the Account key for power bi Data source credentials - Microsoft Q&A
