Hi everyone,
Is there a way we can manage measures at a centralised place in Power BI for use in different semantic models? We are planning on dividing our big Tabular Model into smaller semantic models. Some semantic models might contain the same measures. So rather then editing each measure in every semantic model we would like to have one central place to edit these measure and then have it automatically updated in all the semantic models. Furthermore this would also be best practise so all the KPIs in all the reports will have the same calculations and values. Is there a way to acchieve this somehow using Power BI or Fabric?
Thanks already in advance 🙂
We have not proceeded with creating Data Warehouses therefore I guess I can not accept the answer as solution as I do not have tested it. The approach we are currently trying is to use PBIP and TMDL to acchieve the desired outcome. But this feature is still pretty new from Power BI.

Hi. Well. I don't think you can do it with just PowerBi. You could copy paste measures opening two tabular editors connected to the Power Bi Desktops of both semantic models to make it easier.
The only thing I think I could solve it right now is using Fabric Data Warehouse. You can create measures in the warehouse tables. That way you could create smaller semantic models that will have the measure of the table when getting data from there.
I hope that helps,
Happy to help!
