Can I Restrict Build permissions individually for multiple reports in a power bi app ?

Can some one help me with this ?

Scenario:- I have workspace with multiple reports and datasets, I have published app on this workspace and included more than one report to the app.

Q 1) can I control the build permissions individually for that reports in the app.

Q 2) I have 4 reports in one app, I have enabled the build permission while publishing the app, but user is able to access the dataset of only one report, not able ot access rest of the datasets, what might be the issue ?

Hi @Reddy5833

You control build permissions on the Dataset the Report9s) are built from.

In the Workspace, on the Dataset select "Manage Permissions" from the options. Tnere for th dataset under "Direct Access" you'll see the list of who has access and at what level. Click on the three dots to the right of the users you want to change, and add (or remove) the rights you want.

As for Q2, you can check the rights as shown above, or you may have other issues, is the Dataset outside of the Workspace the app is built from ? That may mean access is not provided via the app, but needs to be done via permissions.

Hope this helps

@Burningsuit  Does it work if I grant build permission through AD group ?

@Burningsuit Thanks for answering my question

Hi @Reddy5833

It should do, you'll see it says "People and Groups with access" and you'll see to AD Group you've given App access to, you can add or remove build rights for existing app users, or add new Group users .

Hope this helps

Stuart

It helps, Thanks a lot.
