Calculated Column not available in Online/App Vers...

I've been running the desktop version of PowerBI and it's easy to add a calculated column, however I was just online in the app and I noticed that's not available. Is that just a configuration issue on our end, or does the app have very limited capabilities.

As @Greg_Deckler said, it's not supported to create calculated columns or measures on Power BI Service. Please vote this idea.

Correct, you cannot create calculated columns or measures in the Service.
