Caching in Power BI
Dear Power BI Community,
I am currently working for a customer on a Dashboarding project. The customer is a fairly large company and they do not want their data to be outside of their intranet, so they would like to have a PowerBI solution on-premises.
PowerBI in SSRS is currently being checked, but if possible we would prefer to use a Live connection (Directquery) via an enterprise gateway installed on a Microsoft SQL Server.
Using the Directquery, no data is being uploaded into the cloud. However, Microsoft says that some data is stored in cache to enhance the experience of the user while using the reports.
Does anyone know more details about what is being cached and what data size? Are there any caching settings where you could restrict the cache? I couldnt find anything in the documentation about this.
Thanks very much ahead for your help!!

Anonymous The Power BI Security White Paper goes into depth about this topic, amongst other things they would be interested in understanding. You can download it from the page I linked provided above.

Anonymous,
In addition to other's post, do you want to use Power BI Report Server? If so, currently, the only data source supported with Power BI report Server is a live connection to a SQL Server Analysis Services(SSAS) tabular model or multidimensional cube. More data sources will be added in future releases.
