Bookmark navigator bug

Hi,

I have a simple bookmark navigator in my report for a group of bookmarks. When a button is clicked the background and text color of the button is changed to show that it is selected. This at first seems to work well but if I click on one of the buttons that is not the default one, then leave the report and then come back, it is instead the default button that is selected - but the bookmark selected is the one connected to the button I clicked before. This is extremely confusing for the users and really seems like a bug.. Or is there a way to fix it?

Hi ,

I test it in my side , when we modify the bookmark navigation and leave the report page .

The result is that : The bookmark navigation will change to default which we save in the editing view but the filter is still the last filter we have selected. This is due to the report will cache the user's selection by default .

You can try to this methods to avoid this situation:
(1)We can close the "Persistent filters" in the report setting:

So when the end user select the one of the bookmark and leave the report. After he view this report , his any filter will not be saved and will only show the report default filter.

(2)The second way is to modify the "Selected" style of bookmark to have no default background. In this way, the end user will not be aware of the current BookMark.

(3)Inform the user that when an incorrect filter is cached, they can click the restore default button in the upper right corner to reset the current filter.

Hi , @ndlofnsd

Based on my research and test on your description of this behavior of the bookmark navigator in this case description, I think this is a by-design behavior of the bookmark navigator, please kindly check this description part of this official doc:

Hi Aniya,
Exactly that statement ("The selected button is the last selected bookmark.") is what is not working. When exiting the report and coming back, the selected button has changed and is not the same as the last selected bookmark. Alas, the selected button is not corresponding with the selected bookmark.

Hi, thank you for the detailed answer.

I have changed the "persistent filters" setting, but I feel that this is more of a flawed work-around than a solution (the same for the other suggestions), and that the issue should be regarded as a bug.

I'll accept your answer as the solution anyway as it represents the only options available.

So to summarize: if one uses a bookmark navigation in a report, either the selected bookmark feature (to display which button has been clicked) can not reliably be used, or one needs to disable the ability for users to save filters all together.
