Big Discrepancies between Service and Desktop
Hi Everyone,
I have an issue which I am facing since a few weeks and I haven't been able to solve.
I have a measure that calculates the Backlog in production orders at a specific point in time. Here is the measure:
Hi andreame ,
1. Verify Data Source Credentials and Privacy Levels - Ensure the Power BI Service is connecting to the correct data with consistent privacy settings.
2. Sometimes partial or silent refresh errors cause unexpected results. Check refresh history under your dataset settings.
If the issue continues even after checking all the above aspects, I recommend raising a support ticket with Microsoft for a deeper investigation.

Hi. Make sure to refresh your power bi desktop before publishing to service in order to check the data and visualizations are up to date. Once you do it and publish, check the visual filter context in the icon on the top right corner that appears when you mouse over it to make sure you don't have any additional filter saved from a previous version.
I hope that helps,

Hi andreame ,
Thank you for your inputs, ibarrau. I’d like to suggest a few additional troubleshooting steps that might help.
- Always refresh your dataset in Power BI Desktop before publishing to ensure the data matches what’s loaded to the Power BI Service.
- Ensure the Datum Copy table is properly marked as a Date Table in your model. If it’s not, DAX time intelligence functions like MAX(Date) might behave unpredictably after publishing.
- Remember that Power BI Desktop uses your local time, whereas the Power BI Service operates in UTC. This difference can cause mismatches in time-sensitive data (datetime values) after a refresh.
If my response solved your query, please mark it as the Accepted solution to help others find it easily.
And if my answer was helpful, I'd really appreciate a 'Kudos'.

Hi V-yubandi-msft ibarrau ,
Thanks for your help.
1) I refreshed the Desktop version after publishing but the results are still there.
2) Thanks for the suggesion, I marked it as date table.
3) I know that there might be smaller differences due to the local time vs UTC. However, I don't think it's the case here. We are talking about very big gaps between the two versions.
Unfortunately I tried your suggestions, but they didn't solve the problem
