Between Date Slicer to USe Max Date

My client really likes the default date slicer using the "Between" Option (where you get a min date, a max date, and there's a slider for each beneath it). However, we seem to have really inconsistent behavior with it.

 

Ideally, we'd like the default upon opening the report to always be the max date. Sometimes this works. I set the slider for today's date, and when the data refreshes tomorrow, the max value in the slicer updates as well.

 

Sometimes it takes today's date and now it's a permanent value.

 

Does anyone have any idea why the behavior is inconsistent and how to get it to behave as desired?

    Hi VoijaRisa ,

     

    Are you the only person who maintains this report? Can you exclude the effect of persistent filters or has another user modified and saved the Slicer?

    If none of the above issues exist, can you provide detailed Power BI version information so we can better investigate this?

     

    Or you may try use MaxDate= CALENDAR(MIN('Date'[Date]),MAX('Date'[Date])) in your slicer to ensure it always reflects the latest date in your dataset. or TODAY() function in DAX to return the current date.

      I am the only person that maintains the report. The reports are embedded in a website so persistent filters should not be an issue - each time they open the report it loads the defaults.

       

      I'm using PBI Desktop Version 2.131.901.0 64-bit (July 2024) but have been having this inconsistent behavior for as long as I can remember.

       

      Can you please provide more information on how the MaxDate function would help?
