Background Premium consumption understanding

Dears,

I'm trying to be sure I am understanding correctly the figures displayed in the Fabric Capacity Metrics app.

If I am not mistaking, the background consumption of an artifact is calculated over all the acitvities completed in the last 24 hours.

So, considering the example below, is is correct to say that the semantic model DFC Tables used 4.75% of the capacity between the 11/06/2024 4:28:30 PM and the 12/06/2024 4:28:30 PM ?

Thanks for your input !

  • no.  you need to look at when the action completed. That's when the 24 hour smoothing period starts  (can be delayed for a couple minutes).  You can have multiple overlapping smoothing periods for the same semantic model.

Yes, as long as nothing else runs past that time slice you are displaying. If more processing, reporting, etc. happen after that time period, then those numbers will change. It is trying to show the metrics as of the timeslice (30 seconds). It does not show as a whole 24 hours
