B2B guest user unable to access dataset settings

Hi everyone!

I use my own M365 account to access an external tenant in which I am added as a B2B Guest User. My user has Administrator access level on the workspace level, yet still I am unable to access the semantic model settings of a datsaset in that workspace to configure anything.

I have worked in other tenants before and it all worked just fine. The Power BI tenant settings in the external tenant have "Guest users can access Microsoft Fabric" and "Users can invite guest users to collaborate though item sharing and permissions" enabled. I am also able to publish to the workspace just fine and I can also update the App of the workspace.

I noticed that I do not have the full navigation in the external tenant, whereas in other external tenats I have the full experience running.

Can someone point me to the right settings? Has anyone experienced something similiar?

Thanks a lot!

Hi,@Data-Crunch.Hello, @nandic ,thanks for your concern about this issue.

Your answer is excellent!
And I would like to share some additional solutions below.

According to your description ,the B2B guest user unable to access dataset settings.

Please ask if your problem has been solved, if not yet solved, you can refer to my following suggestions
the settings in  Admin portal

1. You need to ensure that the external tenant has allowed invited guest users to access the shared semantic model within their own organization.

Here is a link to the official documentation
url: Share B2B semantic models with external guest users (preview) - Power BI | Microsoft Learn
2. There may be other tenant settings that restrict the access rights of B2B guest users, please check whether you have enabled access rights for guest users to browse.

Below is the relevant official document, please check one by one whether there is any incorrect setting options that lead to the guest user's access restriction.

Could you provide more non-sensitive information (e.g. specific settings) that could help resolve your issue.

I hope my suggestions give you good ideas, if you have any more questions, please clarify in a follow-up reply.

Best Regards,

Carson Jian,

@Data-Crunch here is the list of all options regarding guest users, you can go with tenant admin to make sure what is enabled.

If everything is enabled, once you are workspace admin and when they share dataset with you, make sure they select "modify" option which gives you needed permission.. there shouldn't be any issues after that.
